Warning: Many of the facts contained in this short special summer holiday edition of our Rumour Mill RoundUpDate update may be short.

Our annual summer favourite: One of the first British cropcircles of 2020 showed up in Dorset 31 May.

Our RoundUpDate’s vast editorial campus is on a short break and short-handed. Here in short order is a short summary of some recent events:

  • WFCA directors are meeting this week with federal representatives to discuss Ottawa’s recently announced commitment to support Canadian tree planting contractors during this year’s pandemic. Natural Resources Minister Seamus O’Regan has allocated $30-million to small and medium sized enterprises to offset additional costs associated with COVID-19 safety measures. Read more HERE.

  • BC Premier John Horgan gave a deserved shout-out to tree planters in a COVID-19 update yesterday for their work delivering this year’s tree planting season with, so far, no virus infecting workers or communities. Watch the full clip HERE.

  • Our BC Forestry Safety Advocate has posted a bulletin interpreting our Provincial Health Officer’s recent order relating to industrial camps, including remote silviculture operations in both motels and bush camps. Read the full document HERE.

  • The BC Wildfire Service Contract Advisory Committee continues its important work with the BC Wildfire Service to ensure contract fire suppression crews are compensated for incremental COVID-19 safety costs to ensure their crews can work safely during this year’s fire season.
