Policy

All silviculture practices and requirements on Crown land in Western Canada are driven by public policy designed by the provincial governments with jurisdiction. The federal government may from time to time join their provincial counterparts in joint agreements to address critical conditions on the landscape or within the forest industry. It is necessary for the silviculture sector to maintain a strong presence with governments and contribute to the discussion and design of forest policy as a way to maintain the vitality and optimism of the silviculture sector for both the short and long term. The WSCA has contributed to the development of forest policy at both the provincial and federal level influencing the well being of the industry for the last four decades. That work continues today through the support of the WSCA membership.
