When the BC Liberals came into power at the beginning of the last decade they followed through on the promise to reduce regulation. In some cases that meant eliding useful regulatory guidance for forestry operations. Reducing regulation in this manner then didn’t reduce the actual law. It just made it less clear as to what compliance amounts to in practice for operators. To address this in the context of the annual fire season the WSCA worked with other affected resource shareholders producing these recommended practices regarding fire suppression equipment for field operations involving remote settings and access challenges.
