The Sorrento Training Centre is a prime location for your training needs. Reasonably priced accommodations are located within 5 minutes of the Centre resulting in reduced overall training costs. The field sites are also within close proximity – yielding less travel time and more instruction time to maximize your learning experience.

Because of the mild climate, training can be scheduled earlier in the year to assist with field-based employment. The field sites are selected to cover a broad range of silviculture issues, addressing needs of participants from all regions of the province.

Facilitator:

John Wallis, RPF, graduated from UBC in 1986 and became a registered professional forester in 1988. Prior to his consulting career, John received a broad operational background while working as a forester for Interfor at Adams Lake. For the past thirteen years John has completed consulting work for both Forest Companies and the Ministry of Forests. John has had extensive experience in teaching and course development in all of the courses leading to the Silviculture Surveyors and Soil Disturbance Accreditation Programs. In addition to his training abilities, he has worked with industry, government and other consultants on various projects including: silviculture surveys, free growing declarations, audits, prescriptions, timber development and contract supervision of operational silviculture activities.
