Sowing Request Projections Show Leveling of Planting Program

The past decade has seen a stable reforestation program ranging between 225 million to 250 million seedlings planted annually a according to BCTS’s Al McDonald.

Last year and this one, averaging around 270 million, are peak years in the trend. Projections into the next decade are generally flat, elevated generally above 250 million, but dipping slightly after recent highs, then recovering with the U.S. housing market. Depending on the summer plant 2007 may rank in second place for most seedlings planted in one year. Contractors commented on the apparent discrepancy between the constancy of the planting figures compared to the elevating cut volume in the province.
