New BC Chief Forester Appointed

B.C.’s new chief forester will be based in Prince George after the government appointed Jim Snetsinger to the post. Snetsinger, formerly the regional executive director for the Northern Interior Forest Region will set up his office at the University of Northern British Columbia in early November.

Snetsinger, formerly the regional executive director for the Northern Interior Forest Region since 2002, will set up his office at the University of Northern British Columbia in early November.

Larry Pedersen, who held the post for over a decade will now head up BC Timber Sales as its ADM in charge.

Snetsinger has led the implementation of revitalization polices within the ministry, and now, in his new role, will be responsible for developing plans and programs to manage provincial forest and range lands. He will determin timber harvest levels and oversee the implementation of the new Forest and Range Practices Act and regulations.
