Silvicultural contractors will ask Workers¹ Compensation Board executives to review regulations governing the assignment of prime contractor status on silvicultural work sites. Increasingly forest companies have engaged in downloading prime contractor status onto silvicultural contractors. Contractors have objected to this responsibility saying they have little control over the conditions they find on worksites after harvesting and the shifting of prime contractor status reduces safety by exempting forest companies from necessary diligence in the hiring of competent contractors.
